Education Technology Group (ETG) is an organization dedicated to turning ordinary playgrounds into colorful learning arenas. The safety and education of our children is a prime concern to all of us. Numerous articles continue to quote lower than desirable test scores in the basic subjects of math, reading, spelling, geography, and science. At the same time, there are several schools that are under pressure to discontinue playground time or take away the playground area to make room for non-educational facilities.
We at ETG believe that the playground can become an extension of the classroom for teaching the primary subjects using recreational learning activities (to see examples click here). Our learning concepts are developed from Project US Map, created by ETG partner Larry Rogers, to teach US geography. Since 1990 approximately 40,000 of these maps have been painted on playgrounds across the United States. In addition to Playground U.S.A. Map and Playground World Map, ETG has developed learning activities for spelling, math, science, shapes, colors, and even languages. Our learning concepts emphasize safety and education within the framework of "turning playgrounds into classrooms".
